Ridgecrest Books2024
Located in Shoreline, a north Seattle neighborhood, Ridgecrest Books asked us to design their bookshop. They wanted a bright and airy space, that still felt at home in their neighboorhood. The founders, Becky and Kevin both invisioned a space where their kids and other families would feel welcome, a space that was clearly modern, yet warm and inviting.

Highlights:

A modular shelving system wraps the space featuring standardized hardware, plywood shelves and lasercut aluminum bookends and category markers.
The wide display shelves sit at the same level as the Enzo Mari inspired surfaces.
The children’s furniture is scaled down, yet sits on an elevated platform that defines the section and allows them to browse and explore at the same level as the rest of the store.
The display carts in the window sit on casters, allowing for easy rotation of books on display to avoid sunfading.
The counter runs almost 24’ long and provides ample space for daily tasks, sales, and multiple conversations.
